The Worst Online Dating sites: Quality Vs Quantity:
Whereas having a large number of users is a plus to dating sites like BeautifulPeople, Speeddate, and Datehookup, it is also their albatross as a lot of fake users abound on them since the right checks are not in place while eHarmony, Match.com, and Tinder is able to offer better matches to its users at a cheap cost.
1. BeautifulPeople.com
There are so many perks that beauty brings to people and it seems that many things are much easier for them.
They are more likable, make friends easier, even get jobs thanks to their look and last, but not the least they get pretty much anyone they want in terms of relationships and hookups.
However, we all know that the world does not revolve around it, because there are things much more important that the looks. But, Greg Hodge does not agree with it.
He has created this dating service for “beautiful” people only and there is a whole list of “ugly traits” that will stop someone from becoming a member.
And not only that he believes in creating a more “beautiful world” this way, but the whole service is based on the democratic voting system.

This means that once you apply for membership dozens of members will vote on whether you should be granted access or not and you will see what their (harsh) responses are.
Members are so harsh with their votes that the acceptance rate is less than 15% – this is less than for some Ivy League schools!
The list of unwanted traits is long and here are some of them: obesity, “unsightly” nose, bad mouth and teeth, bad skin, ungroomed facial and body hair, inadequate height, long nails, very low weight for men, bad posture, “no butt” etc.. Even Greg Hodge was rejected by the members.
If this only weren’t enough beautifulpeople.com has paired with a Beverly Hills surgeon who comments on rejected wannabe members’ traits and offers discounts in case they want to improve their aesthetics.
If you wish to give this service a shot you are supposed to fill out all of the information it asks from you: your body type, your eye color, hair color, education, relationship status, whether you are a home and car owner, height, weight, and several other points.
After that you need to upload a photo – a gorgeous one and then the opposite sex members have 48 hours to vote on your application.
The votes fall in 4 categories: Absolutely Not, No, Hmmm OK and Beautiful.
Also, in case you get granted access and upload more photos that cause someone to be suspicious of your looks, you will most probably be sent back to re-rating and possibly be expelled from the site.
After you are accepted you will be able to enjoy the online dating experience, however, there isn’t an algorithm that will connect you with someone suitable.
This is because it assumes that all of you already have the most important thing – beauty in common.
The service added a security check, which means that you need to verify your profile by taking a photo with a piece of paper that states your username and the set date, however, people are saying that they got accepted even without that. This raises a lot of questions.
Beautifulpeople.com has a free version, however, it will not grant too many features.
If you wish to experience anything more than just browsing members, which is sending messages, chatting live, looking at the votes given to you, taking part in discussions, and other features you will need to get a paid membership.
2. Delightful.com
There almost isn’t a person who hasn’t heard of Steve Harvey. He is a quite famous host of a TV show that deals with couples and provides couples therapy, is a book writer, “an expert on dating” and a comedian.
He tried to translate all of this knowledge and tips into an online dating service, which was launched in partnership with the Match Group in 2014.
However, no matter how much the app got marketed, it hasn’t received too many positive reviews.
It got quite criticized for its views on men and women and their biological nature.
Just now when we thought differences between men and women were being buried, Harvey went on to say that women are “wired differently” and offered various articles on the app that teach women “how to be more datable”, which many found atrocious.
He went on to say that many feel their biological clock is ticking and that they only wish to date if that will lead to a relationship, which contrasts men’s logic.
Even though this may be true in some cases, it does not apply to every single woman and a man and it doesn’t do anything for the “reconciliation” of the two sexes.
Also, it seems this service revolves around Steve Harvey himself and his fans that are there in large numbers.
First of all, we understand that Steve has some interesting advice and wisdom to offer however, he has no credentials that would prove he is an expert on any dating-related topic.
Thus, this raises many questions on what he preaches, and whether it is something you should act upon.
Also, his face is located all over the app, since he is the “chief love officer” and no matter where you click you will read his advice, jokes, and witty comments.
Even though it can be funny from time to time, seeing him everywhere is not fun in the long run, nor does Steve present the most attractive way to find love.
On the other hand, even if we discard all of the above and try to look at the pure numbers and statistics, there is almost no information on how successful this service is, nor does the “success stories” feature offer more than a few stories.
Many people have written not-so-positive reviews saying that they wanted refunds for various reasons and that they couldn’t get a hold of customer service, nor find the right number.
Also, search options are not that user friendly, since they don’t allow you to filter users based on narrower criteria other than the state and age range.
The cost is also questionable since the paid membership goes for $29.99 per month and you are pretty much obligated to subscribe because the free version doesn’t offer anything other than swiping to meet singles and seeing their profiles.
Whenever you wish to message someone, see who is interested or know if the message was read, you will need to get the paid membership.
3. SugarDaddyForMe.com
This dating service was launched in 2004 and it was created for a very specific niche market.
This market is a group of older men and women, called sugar daddies and mommies who hope to find (much) younger men and women – sugar babies.
They do this for several reasons – it makes them feel good, wanted and attractive and on the other hand, they can pamper their partners because they have lots of money and it is simply “the price” of their companionship.
Now, there isn’t anything wrong with this, people wish for various things and this website is set to fulfill this specific desire.
So we have the niche group with specific wishes and the website that can allow for them to come true – so what is wrong?
According to hundreds of real-life reviews of this dating site, it is one big scam filled with thousands of fake profiles that just want to extort your money and make you a fool. As simple as that.
It is one of the worst-rated dating services out there.
Hundreds of women have said that once they created their profiles they immediately got messages from older men who right away asked where they were from and how they can send them the money.
They required information about their credit cards “to send the money”, but that information was much more private than what they needed for the transfer.
Another huge downfall is the fact that you need to have a paid membership to send more than 3 messages per day, or read and reply to any messages since you cannot do it for free.
Many women who had nonpaying accounts have said that they kept getting messages from men, but they were blurred and to see the content they had to pay.
But it all seemed like a real scam and that those messages were fake and made on purpose, encouraging them to get the membership.
Some of them even knew men who supposedly sent them the messages, but who said that they haven’t done it in reality.
There are women who said that they have even filed FBI reports when they realized they were talking to con artists.
The price is also quite high for a dating site, going for $39.95 per month.
However, on the bright side, hundreds of women and men have found sugar daddies and mommies from their dreams who have helped them in all sorts of ways and to whom they were cute, young companions.
Many college students support themselves this way as they aren’t yet financially stable and then set the “relationship rules and boundaries” with their sugar daddies and less often mommies.
The site can be quite effective if you spend a lot of time on it and can identify shady profiles. However, you are also supposed to have the membership if you plan to do anything more than just browse profiles and send up to three messages without being able to see the reply.
4. SpeedDate.com
SpeedDate is as the name suggests, is an online dating service that facilitates speed dating until you find someone that you connect with (of course hoping that, that person also connects with you).
Their tagline “Real Dates in Real Time” is a very accurate description of their services. Now to be fair, this site can be quite fun for some people, especially those who want to play around with online dating for laughs; however, for the serious dater, there is just no justification to pay a monthly subscription fee to feel like you are playing the paid version of Chatroulette.
It is not likely that you will find “The One” by engaging on a series of quick 5 minute dates (assuming that the dates will even last that long). 5. DateHookup.com
The name of this website should be enough to make you click the red X and move on to something else; however, to appease your curiosity here is what we found wrong with DateHookup (aside from the name).
The first thing to note is that this website caters to young adults and college students.
This is a basic, no frills website that focuses on showcasing people’s pictures which can be better with a proper guide because after all, you are most likely to hook up with the “prettiest” person that you can find and get with.
Although the site has a basic design, it feels like this site is stuck in the past and has refused to move into the present age of online dating.
DateHookup does have one thing going for it, and that is using the site completely free. Perhaps this is why using the site is so seemingly annoying. Oh, and did we forget to mention the many ads that you must contend with to use the site for free?
Sadly, the DateHookup website is filled with ads, but then again that it the price that you pay for free. This site is best avoided unless you are into this type of online dating. Instead, we recommend checking out these other free online dating sites. Here is the full review.
Top two sites to consider
Now that we have talked about the three sites that I recommend you avoid let’s talk about two options I recommend. Honestly, there are not too many dating sites online that I will recommend, and there are benefits and downfalls to both paid and free sites.
The problem with free sites such as plenty of fish and okay Cupid is that there are a lot of spammy people. There are a ton of spammy robot created accounts. On top of this, the people that are on these free sites are usually not looking actually to meet up. They are looking for an ego boost and chatting.
For people looking for a real dating website will usually have to pay for it. At least the prices of dating websites have dropped significantly over the last couple of years for the two sites that I recommend for people that are serious about online dating.
These are the kind of places to find love, and meet new people for online dating, e.g. eHarmony, and Match as they have dating rules in place to guide and protect users.
1. Tinder
If you wish to give online dating a chance and enjoy a safe website with millions of profiles that can fit anyone’s criteria then you should go for Tinder. There is a reason why it is the most popular and used online dating app in the world.
With its user base of 57 million people from 190 countries, you can rest assured that you will have large chances of meeting someone for a hookup, dating or serious relationship.
Tinder is not quite a niche dating app and it targets individuals of various backgrounds who strive to find various connections.
A word goes around that it is used mostly for hookups and other casual encounters, however, thousands of people have met their significant others on there and even got married!
With Tinder you don’t have to worry about being rejected from the app based on your looks, even though they matter for dating; that you will be served “male vs. female nature” dating tips, nor get asked about your credit card and financial details.

Match.com is the other website that I highly recommend. This is one of the most popular sites and has one of the most significant populations of users for a paid website. Just like eHarmony, people are actually on this website to meet one another in person.
Match.com has a ton of features that are super useful. One of the most prominent features I love is being able to search and filter through the whole database of people based on very specific criteria. This allows me to narrow down the results to find exactly the person I would like to date.

Some States will not issue marriage licenses without passing a extensive compatibility test, of which 99% who take it, fail it. Hence ever more numbers of men and women just accept that over 35 it is “OVER” and they just get on with their lives. The best line I read of why Both men and women lie extensively on their profiles is: “well, if I told the truth, I would never get a date” go figure..

I select some profiles and start replying them. I discovered that as you reply those emails. You will receive the most replies with the same contents continuously. i tried to get their contact details from site. the site admin told me to spend minimum 3000 credits on each girl (App 1200 Euros). I start spending those credits on some girls. The girls were agreed to provide their contact details through site administartion. As i complete the requirement, the girl denied to provide their details. I found that 80-90% profiles are fake. Awww such a bad experience on these both sites.

I have tried Pof. Absolutely the worst for fake scammers. Okcupid I actually had a lot of luck with a few years ago but its a joke now. Same with Match. com. Now they both seem to have very few members that are legit at least in my area.

elite singles is the worst. Most men don’t post pictures and if you ask for one you probably won’t get it. I set my preferences yet the company totally ignored those and sent me many matches I did not want. elite is defined how? The men with pics are mostly overweight and much older than I expected, some blue collar workers, nor education, again, outside of my preferences. I used it for one week and asked for my money back. They guaranteed a refund but would not give me the remaining 5+ months back. Not as they sell it up, steer clear. What a rip off.

Plus they use trolls to get u to join. Once u join all the trolls that say the stuff u wanna hear they stop messaging u n block u. Worst experience wife n I have had. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE

Match is absolutely horrible!!! Used it free for a month or so. I wasn’t having very many matches come through. I paid for a month and the selection of men only increased by maybe 5. I changed my profile around thinking I had too much detail in what I was looking for. It didn’t matter the selection never changed. I’ve tried several sites and weeding out the 99.1% of creeps that are looking for fast sex is almost utterly impossible! I was even told by several play boys how easy this was. Disgusting and disappointing. I refuse to ever online date again. Women better wise up!!
I am so sorry that you had such a bad experience with match.com. Bad experiences especially when the first time online dating users are getting started can really turn people off. It really is just the luck of the trauma in their are plenty of good men on online dating websites. You just have to sift through all of the garbage to find them. It does provide huge benefits though such as being able to do all of this from home instead of going out on a long uncomfortable date just to find out the person does garbage in the first place. I totally agree that there are some bad people on some of these online dating websites that are just straight up annoying. On the other hand there are plenty of great men to meet out there that are looking for a great woman as well. Online dating has its pros and cons.
Zoosk is awful! On the site, you can tell who is checking you out and how often. When I finally get the guts to ask someone out, there’s zero response. It makes me wonder if these profiles are actual people. At this point, I feel like I’m looking at a really bad year book that has catalogued every looser within a 200 mile radius!

Just like any other dating website, there are good profiles, bad profiles, fake profiles, but also tons of legit profiles with real people looking to make real connections. Unfortunately nobody has figured out the solution to sift out the bad profiles in order to make matchmaking a more efficient process. But on the other hand, you are able to have the possibility of meeting plenty of great people from the comfort of your own home.

Joined eHarmony did not have any matches. Our time was filled with scammers and Match rude men or men that were my age wanting to date someone my daughter’s age.
I’m sorry you had such a bad experience with all of these dating websites. Dating online can take patients to sift through the profiles that don’t match what you are looking for. But there are plenty of good profiles with real people behind them looking to make real connections. The fact that we can have the possibility to meet these people from the comfort of her own sofa is something incredible and it absolutely does work for millions of people they get married every year.

I had recently joined afroromance.com for 3 months after having been a free member on there for several years so I already had a profile and photos up. Since I joined I get a lot of what they call “Flirts” in my Inbox. Within a day or two these profiles have been removed by the administrator. I am not sure if this site is easy to hack or they are “Feeding” me but I can usually tell they are fake because as a paying member I can see who has viewed my profile and very few of these profiles who have “Flirted” have even visited my profile. Of the ladies I have messaged, I have yet to receive a response from so I suspect that the vast majority of the profiles are fake or were set up some time ago and forgotten about. This kind of thing seems to be the norm in online dating sites. I think you would fair far better approaching a random stranger and offering to take her to dinner than paying for any online dating site.
Hey Robert, I’m sorry to hear about your poor experience you with online dating websites. I honestly have never heard of that website that you are talking about. If it does not have a lot of members on it, is simply will not have a big enough pool of people to choose from. That’s why I suggest sticking with the bigger players such as match.com, eHarmony or Zoosk.
I tried Our Time and it was a huge waste of time and money. I live in N.Y. and 90% of the matches they sent were from Mass. I called to complain and was told that’s the way it works. The guy’s on my daily matches had nothing in common with the info on my profile. Stay away from this rip off site!
Hello I am sorry that you had such a bad experience with the ourtime dating site. I know that a lot of people have had success with the site. It does not make sense that you are only getting people from mass. NY is a huge city. I would call customer support one more time to see.

I am sorry that you had such a bad experience on ourtime. I have heard great experiences and have met plenty of people that have met their soulmate on that website. But just like any other online dating website, you have to sift through the bad profiles to find the good ones.
